Yellow River is the second largest river of China who also gave birth to thelong history of Chinese civilization. However, due to the special geographicalenvironment of the Yellow River, she also brought a threat of serious ice flooddisaster to the upper and middle parts of the Yellow River including Mongolia,Shanxi, Shanxi, Ningxia provinces in winter and spring. Once the disasteroccurred,people in those provinces along the river would suffer huge losses.Preventing ice disaster has become a major challenge when faced hydrologicalforecasting in the north area of our country especially the Yellow River area.In order to preventing ice flood disaster in the Yellow River, carrying outreal-time,effective and continuous automatic monitoring of ice is an importantpart of the Yellow River ice disaster forecast system construction of nationalflood control and disaster reduction system. Under the National Natural ScienceFoundation of research of continuous on-line detection of ice extinctionprocesses and strength mechanical based on the differences in the physicalcharacteristics of air, ice and water (number:5127922), on the basis of actualdemand of the Yellow River ice detection local test and the process of system designing and testing on the scene which was developed by the cooperation ofthe research group that the author belonged to and the Yellow River floodcontrol of the Yellow River Hydraulic Research Institute that belonged to WaterConservancy Department, completed the design and local test of remotemonitoring system of ice. The system adopted the test method which based onthe differences in the physical characteristics of air, ice and water,combinedwith related video image theory, computer, sensors and data communication andother professional technology,designed the whole detection automatic remotesystem that could also allow the transmission of video image based onLabVIEW software platform, realized remote monitoring for ice data andimage in Hua jiangyingzi portions in inner Mongolia of the Yellow River.Combining with the design and experiment of the application of this system, thispaper mainly completed the research contents as follows:1. Introduced the background and the significance of this topic,read therelevant literature.analysed and summarized the domestic and foreign researchof ice detecting technology selected the main technical method of icemonitoring, adopted the main contents of this paper.2. according to the relevant requirements of engineering field, designed anddeveloped the ice remote monitoring system with automatic zoom and pan tiltcontrol, video and ice data acquisition and transmission function.3. Through the analysis and comparison of existing remote datatransmission communication mode, chose the communication mode of GPRS data packet transmission in combination with Internet for the transmission of icethickness data, the communication mode of3G in combination with Internet forthe transmission of video image data. Analysed the characteristics of those datatransmission communication mode, selected A-GPRS1090I and3G video serveras the corresponding data remote transmission module, designed circuit structureof data transmission for the system4. In the software platform of LabVIEW, designed the monitoring centersystem management software of the ice remote monitoring system with databasestructure which could store ice thickness information, realized long-rangereceiving of ice thickness data and video image data, achieved the goal ofselecting, processing, storing and other post processing function about the icethickness data automatically.5. Introduced the experiment In the Inner Mongolia section of the YellowRiver and achieved the acquisition,long-distance transmission and processing ofthe ice data including ice thickness data and video image data by the designedice remote monitoring system6. According to the designing process and the analysis of data in theexperiment, made summarizes about the characteristics and defects of thesystem and made suggestions for improving of the system.The system that designed in this paper provides a reference structure forremote real-time monitoring industrial application system that supportssynchronization ice image during measuring thickness of ice in freeze up period for construction of the Yellow River ice disaster forecast system in China.
