The traditional automatic weather station has disadvantages such as large volume as well as the effects of location and space. If make use of the advantages of virtual instruments, such as easy to develop, small volume, convenient to use and so on, we can replace the data acquisition and data processor of the traditional automatic weather station with virtual instruments. With using Lab VIEW language to develop can increase development efficiency greatly and reduce development costs. The article studies the wireless automatic weather station theory and implementation on the basis of analysising and researching virtual instrument and its development environment-LabVIEW and virtual instrument hardware system. Focusly according to MSP430F437 microcontroller, GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) data transmission technology and data acquisition technology, using LabVIEW programming language with programming ideas and methods, the article designs meteorological monitoring system on the basis of LabVIEW. The article analysises GPRS networking scheme, and chooses appropriate networking scheme for this issue according to actual situation to achieve wireless transmision of meteorological data.The main work of this paper can be divided into two parts:①use the MSP430F437 microcontroller to realize front-end meteorological data acquisition;②use virtual instrument and LabVIEW to realize the processing and display of meteorological data, which belongs to back-end data acquisition part. The two parts use G200 module to realize data transmission.This article gives us an examination about the application of virtual instrument technology in meteorological monitoring system, which takes advantages of virtual instrument technology, accomplished the functions of system data automatic collection, processing, show and store. Real-time collection of temperature, relative humidity, wind direction, wind velocity, atmospheric pressure and other meteorological essential factors, the system can also display the real time trend of measurements and previously stored date, and is therefore of great assistance for meteorological research and weather forecast. Experiments demonstrate that it has a perfect performance and a realistic prospect for practical application.
