It is the key to ensure the safety of train operation that operating condition of cityrail train’s motor and gear box is normal. The real-time monitoring of temperature andacceleration of motor and gear box is an important aspect of train monitoring. It canprovide key data for train running status monitoring and comprehensive evaluation.Unifying the characteristics and advantages of ZigBee and GPRS technology, thispaper designs a remote monitoring system of the traction motor and gear box tomonitor the running state of city rail train remotely. This monitoring system consistsof train LAN and ground monitoring center, which communicate through GPRS andInternet.Train LAN is a ZigBee network, which has a lot of advantages, such as lowcomplexity, low power consumption, low cost, low data transmission rate, thistechnology is mainly used in the short distance wireless communication. At the aspectof hardware, we choose chips meeting the system requirements and design train LANcontrol center and intelligent data acquisition nodes; at the aspect of software, wedevelop personal application based on Z-stack provided freely by TI, realizing sensingdata acquisition and wireless transmission. GPRS technology makes up for the shortinstance of ZigBee train LAN, and transmits data from train LAN to groundmonitoring center.Control center software is developed using LabVIEW, which embedded TCPprotocol. Using its TCP functions, the PC of control center can receive data fromGPRS DTU through TCP connection between each other. Also the software analysis,processes, displays in waveform chart and stores the data into database. The datastored is prepared for query.Through laboratory tests, this system can accomplish data acquisition, remotetransmission and local storage, and the data is accurate and real-time. Conclusion canbe drawn that this system can complete the remote monitoring of train running status.
