Engineering machinery is an important component of the equipment industry. There are many types of engineering machinery, most of which work in the field. Engineering machinery has many features in common, such as large volume, operating risk, the higher environmental requirements and so on. These features make the experiment is very dangerous and difficult to collect experimental data. The virtual reality technology is introduced to the study in order to solve this problem. Virtual reality technology provides a ‘real’ simulation effect to solve the problems such as safety, data acquisition in the experiment of engineering machinery. It is a good solution to the construction machinery for the human engineering analysis.The crane modeling and the technology of virtual reality simulation has many advantages, including low cost, no environmental restrictions, no experimental time limit and low energy consumption. The operation and structure characteristics of crane simulation based on virtual reality technology. Unity 3D has many advantages in the simulation and modeling of virtual reality project such as programming cycle is short, rich modules. Unity 3D is widely recommended for small teams. In this paper, for mechanical engineering human factors engineering analysis as a research purpose, the structure characteristics and application of virtual reality simulation technology in the operation to achieve real crane to simulate it. Collect the data of theexperiment to validate the feasibility and the effectiveness of the virtual reality technology.First of all, to analyze the mechanical structure and movement model of STT153 type tower crane. This system mainly functions as follows: rotary motion of the tower crane, variable amplitude movement from the car horn and hook up the movement.Secondly, the application of Pro/E as a modeling tool, 3DS Max as landscaping tools, parts modeling and landscaping. The tower crane structure can be divided into five sections. The tower, tower head(including the cab), tower arm(including the boom, balance arm and the counterweight block), trolley and hook. Through measuring the size of the object, physical size is established according to each part in Pro/E model. Because of the format and the modeling process to generate a lot of unnecessary surface and other reasons, using 3DS Max to beautify and transformation the format model. Virtual reality modeling and simulation to create a real time interactive simulation platform by using the crane operation method.Thirdly, create a real time and interactive crane operation simulation platform by using the method modeling of virtual reality and simulation. Achieving variable amplitude movement from the car horn and hook up the movement and other functions by using the physics engine and C# programming language.Finally, experimental simulation by using the virtual experimental platform of tower crane, collecting the required data. The data were analyzed in order to verify that the virtual reality technology in mechanical engineering for human factors analysis of the feasibility and effectiveness. Assess crane virtual simulation platform by using systems engineering Analytic Hierarchy Process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.
