Study Of Content And Development Of Citizen Journalism Based On Micro-Blog Platform

In the era of new media, everyone has his or her own "microphone". It is irresistible that citizens have great enthusiasm to participate in public affairs on a novel medium, micro-blog. At the same time, the prosperities of smart phones, tablet computers and other portable devices have given each citizen the opportunities to post news as the first on-site person.In this study, quantitative analysis was carried out for citizen journalism on micro-blog. The trend of development of citizen journalism on micro-blog was demonstrated by data collected from Internet."Micro-content" of citizen journalism on micro-blog was further analyzed from the perspective of communication studies via "5W" mode. The derivatives, development mechanisms and challenges to classical communication theory of citizen journalism on micro-blog were discussed. The theories of opinions of leaders, agenda settings, gatekeepers and shadowless microbloggings were also applied to this study.Finally, the problems of citizen journalism on micro-blog were discussed from the aspects of the truths of communication, moral considerations, copyright issues, media literacy, and so on. Possible solutions were explored as well. In the analysis of content, four parts of citizen journalism on micro-blog, i.e."something new in life","community supervision","braking news", and "public welfare", were sorted by "reverse classification".It is found that citizen journalism on micro-blog has following features compared with professional journalism:a) First in time. Citizen journalism on micro-blog serves the sources of messages before the report of professional news, b) Individual composition. Citizen journalism on micro-blog is not limited by template. c) Rich in emotion. Human kindness is incorporated into the news.d) Reported by the entire people. The truth of the event was comprehensively unveiled by each small detail provided by citizen. Then, citizen journalism is concise, which is short of content; Citizen journalism is straightforward, easy to understand, and citizen oriented; sentences in the citizen journalism are free of punctuation; tones and sentences are diverse. Moreover, because of the great influence of certain citizen journalism, it can be evolved and upgraded to public events. Currently, because of the phenomenon of "whispering gallery" and the rise of severe tendency of entertainment, it is difficult to tell whether the citizen journalism is authentic or not."Serial fists" usually come into being.
