The theory that "medium is the message" held by McLuhan believes that the real sense and valuable message is not the dissemination of information in each era, but the nature of the communication tools used in this age, the possibility which creates and social change which brings. With the development of digital communication by ordinary people spontaneous broadcast information such as BBS, blog, podcast and so on, citizen journalism has burgeoned in China.Micro-Blog, born in the Web2.0era during which users’ interaction is emphasized, is the latest online interactive products following the blog post. The29th China Internet Development Statistics Report shows that, by the end of December2011, the number of micro blog users has reached250million,increased by296.0%compared with last year, and netizen’s using rate is48.7%.The report also shows that the micro blog has evolved into the important way of Internet application for nearly half of Chinese netizen within just one year and has permeated all walks of life in China.the popularity of network communication, the growth of democratic consciousness, sufficient information and the convenience of digital technology have changed the traditional passive consumption of news and information by people, they are eager and urgent to participate in the news production and take the initiative for self-propagation. At present, Micro blog is the carrier which can meet the public spontaneous, free, independent dissemination of information to great extent. Thus, the era of micro blog has brought rapid development to citizen journalism led by ordinary citizens rather than professional journalists. With the mounting influence of micro blog which features promptness, convenience and simplicity, the citizen journalism in China sails in full speed.However, micro blog citizen journalism is a double-edged sword. When enjoying its prosperity, micro blog citizen journalism also brings problems such as false news, internet violence, defamation and privacy violations and lack of voice of disadvantaged groups as well as the deepening of the "information gap" between urban and rural areas. This text’s research subject is Micro-blog citizen journalism and has five parts. The introduction section describes the historical background of the micro blog citizen journalism’s development, academic achievement as well as the value and significance of this study. The Chapter II will describe and comb micro blog’s definition, history and proceeds from the case to sum up the new changes micro blog brings to the Chinese society. Chapter III will take advantage of the relationship between micro blog and citizen journalism and focus on the citizen journalists of the micro blog to analyse the growth of the relationship between micro blog and citizen journalists in the course of spreading news media. The Chapter IV will focus on the two negative issues during the development of micro blog citizen journalism. One is to Analyse the false news phenomenon of micro blog in citizen journalism and communication with the method of case study; the other analysis is for current situation of citizen journalism and communication in rural areas and root causes of lack of farmers’rights to speak through the questionnaire and tries to come up with the corresponding prevention mechanisms and strategies to cope with. In the last part, the author will project the development of micro-blog citizen journalism according to China’s national conditions.
