With a multi-screen digital TV monitoring system development project which the author has presided over as the application background, and with combination of theory and practice, this thesis conducts a research on the management method of the critical chain project schedule which has increasingly become a hot spot at home and abroad in the recent years.The main work is as follows:At first, the thesis summarizes the development status and trends of domestic and foreign research on the project schedule management, elaborates the basic concepts, features, contents and principles of software project schedule management, in particular, it conducts a in-depth study on the theoretical foundation, technical principles, application methods and steps etc. of the increasingly extensively used Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) and Critical Chain Project Management Method (CCPM).Then, with the system topology, functional structure and characteristics of the background project management as the foundation, with the basic software project schedule management theory as a fundamental guide, the thesis carries out an overall design on the project, in terms of determination of the management methods, selection of project management assistance software, schedule development process as well as control strategies of project implementation schedule, etc. Conducts an in-depth study and detailed design on the key technologies of the program—identification of critical chain, settings and control of the buffer, combined with the project need, and carries out feasibility and application effect analysis on the schedule management plan from the point of Monte Carlo simulations and similar projects comparison.During the above-mentioned program design and implementation of key technologies, this thesis presents the following three aspects of innovative insights: First, by combination of PERT and CCPM, and discretionary improvement of PERT, the thesis proposes an improved CCPM/PERT schedule management method with CCPM as the basic method, and with the improved PERT as the basic duration estimation means; Second, with a view to minimizing the possible impact of random variation factors such as the start time and time duration on the project schedule, the thesis proposes to introduce a process start elasticity coefficient and process execution flexibility coefficient, with the root variation method as the foundation, and forms an improved root variation method to calculate the buffer size; Third, regarding the buffer control, the thesis proposes a risk warning matrix, which makes a comprehensive consideration of the buffer amount and project schedule updates, as the project schedule risk mechanism. Simulation and project development prove the correctness and validity of these ideas and insights.Finally, the thesis summarizes the main work done in this research and the main results achieved, as well as the main problems existed, and proposes recommendations to solve the problem and improve the management.
