Abstract/Summary:
With the rapid development of image sensor technology in recent years, high frame rate and high resolution image acquisition plays an increasingly important role in scientific research and industrial production. However, the acquisition of continuous images will produce a large amount of data. Therefore, an acommunication system with higher channel capacity must be used as the medium in order to realize high speed and reliable image data transmission.The lOGbps image transmission system is designed based on IEEE802.3ae Ethernet standard and technology of FPGA. The system consists of application logic layer, MAC layer and high-speed serial interface. Application logic layer is responsible for CMOS sensor configuration and image data transmission. MAC layer is responsible for the function of Ethernet data decoding and CRC. High-speed serial interface is responsible for parallel-to-serial conversion to implement the communication with computer.In respect of hardware, an embedded lOGbE fiber-optic card which adopts FPGA Virtex-5LX50T as the main controller is designed. On the card, the IEEE802.3ae Ethernet standard is achieved by IP core in FPGA and high-speed serial transmission is achieved by XAUI core and GTP transceiver.10GbE Physical layer is achieved by Broadcom BCM8706, which adopts10GBASE-LRM as transmission protocol. The chip BCM8706is able to achieve XAUI-to-XFI conversion and provide220m transmission distance. Optical fiber communication is achieved by SFP+module to realize the signal conversion of10.3125Gbps.In respect of software, a logic design in FPGA and an application program is achieved. FPGA logic design is based on Verilog HDL, which realizes sequential logic and handshake signals between modules in FPGA. According to the image sensor, two dual-port RAMs and ping-pong operation is designed to solve the problem of huge amounts of data transmission directly. The application program is based on WinPcap open-source programming interface and MFC, which could achieve the capture and recovery of Network packets.At the end of paper, the system debugging process and test results was discussed. After the test, the speed of transmission card is up to lOGbps and application program could achieve the function of image storage and playback stably.
