Kanban is a pull system of the production logistic control method based on lean thinking. Nowadays, Kanban as an advanced management means has been widely popularized and implemented in the areas of manufacturing and services. Automotive components manufacturers belong to the multi varieties and small batches production enterprises, which manufacturing process is complex and production engineering is changeable. It is key important for those manufactures to use Kanban technology to improve their production performances.Company A is a foreign enterprise in China, focusing on researching and manufacturing automotive components. In order to cater to the rapid development needs of the car manufacturing industry in China, Company A established trading company in Shanghai in2004and later the manufacturing factory in2010. Along with the rapid business development, Company A is unable to meet the increasingly complex in production environment and customer requirement with the current procedures and systems, which cause problems in the aspects of cost and quality.Based on the relevant theories of Kanban management and in compliance of the analysis of production logistic current status in Company A, two problems in terms of cost and quality were stated in the thesis, which Company A is now facing with. The reasons led to the above mentioned problems can be summarized as imperfection in production logistic procedure and lack of standardization, unreasonable production planning for semi-finished goods and improperness in defective material handling procedure and traceability. Then, this thesis describes the design philosophy and value embodiment of the electronic Kanban system, re-designs and implements standardization, procedure control, semi-finished goods planning and defective material management on the basis of the electronic Kanban management system. At last, by comparing the stock taking accuracy, effectiveness in procedures and inventory control, first in and first out management, traceability management and defective material handling, this thesis approves the problem shooting effectiveness of the electronic Kanban system towards cost and quality control.
