The Payroll/Personnel Management System (PPMS) is an essential part ofinformation development and plays an important role in business decision making.The implementation of PPMS covers the entire process of software development andinvolves specific theory and implementation of software engineering. The systemleverages advanced software development platforms and data managementtechnologies to reduce development costs and stays abreast with the current trend ofsoftware development. By using this system, the human resource functions will beable to not only streamline resource management and improve efficiency, but alsoeffectively organize and manage previously siloed personnel/payroll information andprovide reliable and timely data to support data-driven decision making.This paper analyzes the current personnel and payroll management issues. Basedon the building needs and application software engineering methods, we designed andimplemented a personnel payroll management system that fits the company’s need.The system we designed also effectively enhanced the personnel payroll managementlevel. We solved the problems of human resources management processes, such asnon-standardized and low level of information sharing; and implemented the PPMSthat fits the company’s needs through needs assessment, design and development.First, this system can improve the personnel management level,effectively improvemanagement capabilities for high-level decision-making. Second, the systemestablishes the scientific performance appraisal system and an effective incentivemechanism. Third, it can appropriately help the company allocate resources,maximize staff capacity, stabilize workforce especially high-performance employees.Forth, it plays a vital role in helping the company standardize management process,personnel and payroll management capabilities.This thesis’major research focus and contribution are as follows.(1) With a focus on the human resources management system design andimplementation, the paper analyzed the personnel and payroll management process,completed streamlining the business framework, and thoroughly described thefunctional requirements and non-functional requirements;(2) The system determined the system running software, hardware environmentand development tools for the detailed design, proposed a three-tier systemarchitecture including the data layer, application layer and presentation, which presents the features of low coupling, high cohesion and high extensibility;(3) The system used the WSH framework to design and realize human resourcesmanagement system, and used sophisticated testing methods to design the systemtesing plan and test cases for the system functionality and performance testing. Weperformed detailed comparison of test results and system requirement, and presentedthe testing results in this paper and also summarized our learning and provided futureenhancement plan.The system implemented most of the functions of personnel payroll management,with strong versatility and practicality. It is simple, fast, user friendly and also hasadvanced UI.
