There has been great progress for Firmware project in recent years. Theproject size and project requirement is different to original project. It isimportant to select a suitable process for firmware project. Traditionalfirmware project generally use waterfall development process. But with thechange of market demand, the process cannot suit the current development ofproject. Many companies hope to improve the process. In essence, firmwareis software. So in the recent years, some software project managementtheory began to be applied to the firmware project management.Based on waterfall development, agile development and general projectmanagement theory, the thesis analyzes firmware development process of Acompany by project scope management, time management, cost managementand quality management etc. Deconstruct traditional waterfall developmentprocess and point out that waterfall development process is the root causethat leads to these problems. Agile development process is given as solutionto solve these problems.How to implement parallel development, test-driven, multi-iteration andautomated test is explained in the thesis. The thesis analysis and compare the result between applied agile development progress project and appliedwaterfall development progress. The conclusion can be reached: agiledevelopment process is better to suit firmware project of A company.
