The society nowadays is a highly developed information society, information hasnot only become the most important resources, but also is a major force which leadingeconomic development and social progress. In the context of this society, informationliteracy has become one of the citizen’s basic survival ability. As the graduate studentwho has advanced the knowledge structure, they more needs information literacy toadapt to the development needs of the society,and promote independent learning,scientific research, innovation ability, so that assume the responsibility of ourscientific research and scholarship. Based on this, the paper view the graduatestudents in Jilin province as the research object, analysis their current situation andproblems of information literacy by using the questionnaire survey method, then putforward some corresponding promotion strategies.The paper is divided into four parts, the first part is the research background,purpose, method, and domestic and international significance summarized research;the second part defined the meaning of information literacy of graduate student by therelevant review grasp the basic theory, and introduce its function from the aspects inself-study, dissertations, innovation, graduate education. At the same time,the paperscreen out the graduate students specific requirements of information literacy byintegrate relevant information literacy standards; the third part, the paper designedquestionnaire based on those specific requirements, and then investigate and analyzethe student of six universities in Jilin province from overall level of literacy toinformation awareness, information, knowledge, information capacity, informationethics etc. and difference analysis carried out from different schools, gender, grade,disciplinary nature. After that it provides a summary of the reasons for the final statusand problems, and analysis the reasons why the problems arising. The fourth part, inorder to improve the level of of graduate students information literacy, combined thesurvey concluded with the Jilin province currently education, the paper put forwardsome promotion strategy such as strengthen the library instruction; popularize theembedded information literacy programs; give full play to the role of mentor;professional teachers also should improve their teaching methods and the graduatestudent management should play a fundamental role. At last, the paper summarizesthe affirmation and the limitations of the study, and start looking for the futureresearch.
