Owing to its attractive combination of capacity and transfer rate, volume holographic storage(VHS) is treated as the promising next generation data storage technology. The potential applications ofVHS include a variety of fields such as information processing, aviation and spaceflight, national defensesecurity. And with the rapid development of holography, the requirements of holographic storage materialare getting increasingly high. The performance test of the storage material is an important step in theholographic storage experiments, Transmittance and the diffraction efficiency are important indicators ofthe performance. In the testing process of the performance, the use of the programmable test instrumentsand the automatic test system designed by computer could be able to precisely control the dynamic changesof the date.Under laboratory conditions, we established a set of holographic performance (Transmission anddiffraction efficiency) automatic testing system. The system mainly includes two parts of software andhardware. The hardware part includes, the data acquisition card(Advantech PCI-1711), switch,photoelectric diode(THORLABS. SMPD1A), amplifier etc.. Under Windows operating system, The mainpart of the software, developed by using Labview7.0. And the experiment ierror can be eliminated bytesting system through the software.We use the holographic storage material made by acrylamides, measurements in the laser light of514nm wavelength of argon and krypton ion laser under different light intensities of photopolymer fortransmission and diffraction efficiency. Comparison the manual test and automated test result, we foundthat the automatic test curve is smooth, and the manual test, because of human factors, the data error isrelatively large. From the results it can be seen that the system can complete the test and observation of thesample transmittance exposure curves and diffraction rate exposure curve, can accurately test the dynamicchange trend data, can provide support on performance of holographic material.
