The characteristics of the ACT on CD/DVD pick-up head arepresented. It is discussed in detail that how to research the ACTparameters testing systems of CD/DVD optical pick-up in the presentoptical storage field based on virtual instrument technology.Firstly this paper analyzes ACT parameters including the static anddynamic performance parameters and then presents the common testingand measurement methods about the ACT parameters. One is thefrequency characteristics test method based on the frequency domaintheories, the second is building the ACT system model based ondynamics and electrodynamic mechanism, and the third is systemidentification based on the system simulation signals and responsesignals.Secondly this paper introduces Lab VIEW, which is used broadly inCAT field produced by the American Company -NI, into the ACTparameters testing systems, and selects and designs the hardware andsoftware of this testing systems. About the hardware, the paper selects themultifunction DAQ card to finish the data acquisition, the KQW opticalfiber sensor as the signal sensor and transformer, the 7073A chip speciallyfor the optical pick-up made in Philips in Holand and the TL072 chipmade in TI (Texas instruments) in USA to finish the drive and signal amplifier. About the software, the paper aims at using the LabVIEW todevelop the virtual testing system including the front panel design, dataacquisition, data analysis and test results display.Finaly, the paper presented the ACT test system and theidentification system developed by the LabVIEW, and carded on testlab, which test result displayed in graphic using this systems. The testprocess proves that ACT parameters testing systems based on virtualinstrument technology can fit for ACT characteristics test of CD/DVDoptical pick-up. Furthermore, LabVIEW, the virtual instrumenttechnology applied in the ACT test system adds the flexibleness andextendability.
