With the expansion of the urban rail transit market, the domestic and oversea users of the rail transit had a higher claim to the reliability, availability and maintainability of the new vehicle. In developed countries, such as France, Germany and Japan, many famous urban rail vehicle manufacturers had a set of equipments of data acquisition for testing the traction performance, which had played an important role of the product developing, the experimentation testing and dissertation researching. In China many rail vehicle manufacturers and institutes are upbuilding the laboratory and platform for testing the traction performance .The test system of rail vehicle performance is used to test the high speed railway EMU and urban rail transit vehicle that is produced by CRC and BJTU . The rail vehicle performance testing system base on virtual instrument is presented in this dissertation by studying the design and principle of traction system and analyzing the testing methods, meanwhile the features of PXI instrument hardware and software tool LabVIEW are considered . This system's founction focus on the performance test of traction and brake equipment of rail vehicleare .According to the composing and principle of the test system, the domestic and foreign development present situation of rail vehicle test and independent research and development necessity are brought forward by the paper. And then the contents and the ways of testing the performance of traction and brake equipment are proposed . Lastly, the paper carried on the design in view of the test request to system software and the hardware . In hardware design partial, it contains the System composition structure, the choose and application of the sensor, the chose and performance of data acquisition system base on PXI bus, designed and developed the isolate and filter circuit of the signal conditioning extension, at the same time, the effective anti-jamming measures in the design . In the software design partial, it introduced the overall construction of software, thefunction sub-module design, the performance test's front panel and diagram design, the data processing algorithm, the database module design, LabSQL and the method of using LabSQL to realize the accessing of database under Labview . The test system can measure the electric, temperature and rotor speed parameters, carry out the evaluate to the performance of the traction and brake equipment, validate the performance of the motor whether contents the requirement of the user. This rail vehicle performance test system has friendly software contact interface, high performance price ratio, and is conveniently to carry about. Besides, the system has the automatic calibration ability. In addition, this system also has very good versatility, which can satisfy various kind of vehicle type rail vehichle test need by changing therelated test parameter through software .
