Infrared radiation exists and can be seen everywhere. The infrared image of object is taken by detecting it using infrared radiation. The figure, temperature distribution and inner configuration of object can be observed from its thermal image. Now, infrared image technology is applied widely in many relative fields from civil products to national defenses, and it is noticed by people more and more.Infrared focus plane array (IRFPA) is the critical part of image technology to acquire infrared image signal. Scanned by its readout circuit, IRFPA outputs video signal and shows the thermal image. So in order to make the IRFPA and its ROIC work normally and ensure the image quality, testing and imaging the IRFPA and ROIC are needed which can evaluate their performances.The principle of infrared image, especially the principle of pyroelectric IRFPA and its working sequence are narrated in this paper. The design of driving circuit is told and the new method of using virtual instrument system is produced. According to parameters'test norms, the test system for IRFPA ROIC parameters is designed. Then it is validated by the test experiments of HgCdTe ROIC and pyroelectric ROIC. Meanwhile, the image system is proposed which can display the images of ROIC and interlink output. Infrared image is processed through subtracting background, filtering, correcting non-uniform, histogram equalization, encoding pseudo-color, etc. Finally the image of interlink pyroelectric part can be showed.The system is based on virtual instrument, using NI PCI-6115 data acquisition card and LabVIEW6.1 software platform. Virtual instrument technology achieves one or more instruments'function to acquire needed data in virtue of data acquisition devices on computer, such as DAQ(Data Acquisition), GPIB(General-Purpose Interface Bus), VXI card and so on, and analyze, process, judge, display, store and control them in computer using software.The designed systems are constructed by the best basic and cheapest PC-DAQ virtual instrument system, and are accomplished their functions by the function module of LabVIEW6.1 program. Acquire the outputs of IRFPA ROIC by PCI card. And then after analyze, process and compute them on software platform, the test results are showed.
