Tower crane safety Forewarning system can effectively prevent the tower crane occurred collision, Overturning and some another accidents in working process. Among them, the data transmission network is an important part of the entire system. It is mainly responsible for system Forewarning information transmission between the host and the nodes. And it’s performance affects the realtime and practical use of the system. This article analyses the data transmission mode of the tower crane safety forewarning system at home and abroad. On the basis of these we use the Zigbee technology for specifically short distance wireless communications design applied to tower crane safety Forewarning system information transmission in wireless sensor network, and related test. This paper mainly studies as follows:(1) Research background of the subject and the domestic and foreign research present state. Introduces the mainstream of tower crane manufacturers at home and abroad, and research institutions to develop information transmission Network’s development in tower crane Forewarning system, and introduces the application of wireless communication technology in this field.(2) Overall design of wireless sensor network. According to the working environment and the impacts on the performance of data transmission in safety forewarning system of tower crane, Zigbee protocol is selected for the wireless sensor networks and the transmitting network system structure is designed. This network mainly has three types of devices: gateway, router and end node.(3) Wireless sensor network hardware designs. The work mainly focuses on the circuit design of gateway, routers and end nodes. The circuits of nodes power supply module, USB controller module, signal receive modules and the related interface are designed.(4) Wireless sensor network software design. Main work includes the Zstack protocol stack transfer and start, system hardware drivers cutting and loading and so on. Major describes the gateway router, terminal node module programming flow and part of the program code.(5) Wireless sensor network performance testing. The experiments include the network establishment of the process of the wireless sensor; testing of wireless sensor network transmission distance; detection of network real data rates in the simulation of tower crane height; verify battery power consumption of the network terminal node.
