Objective Based on the analysis of the 2014 height distribution and shape detection rate of primary and middle school students in Anhui province, which provides epidemiological data for short stature detection and finds the possible causes of the disease in our province, providing baseline data for prevention and control of the disease.Method Using stratified cluster random sampling method, three areas(Suzhou city, Hefei, Dongzhi) in Anhui were selected. They are respectively located in the northern, central and southern of Anhui province,12,009 urban and rural primary and middle school students aged from 7 to18 years were recruited, measuring their height and analyzing distribution, then comparing with physical research results in Anhui province of 2010.At the same time, according to the Chinese medical association branch of pediatrics genetic metabolic endocrine group to develop children’s short stature standards, with height less than race, gender, with an average height below the third percentile for age group standard detection and analyze the age distribution characteristics and regional changes of short stature.Results1. The investigation of 12,009 primary and middle school students in Anhui province, showing that male height was higher than that of female in the same age, while the differences between different age stages of growth 7 ~9 years old female height was significantly higher than male(7~<8 year P<0.01, 8~<9 year P<0.01, 9~<10 year P<0.01), 10 years old male and female height had no statistical significance(10 ~ < 11 year P = 0.969, after11 years of age male height was significantly higher than female(11~<12year P<0.005, 12~<13 year P<0.05, 13~<14year P<0.001, 14~<15 year P<0.001, 15~<16 year P<0.001, 16~<17 year P<0.001, 17~<18 year P<0.001, 18~<19 year P<0.001).2. Urban male height of 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16 years old eight men age was higher than the suburb(7~<8 year P<0.001, 8~<9 year P<0.001, 9~<10year P<0.001, 11~<12 year P<0.005, 13~<14 year P<0.05, 14~<15 year P<0.005, 15~<16 year P<0.001, 16~<17 year P<0.005), the rest of the ages had no statistical significance(10~<11 year P=0.280, 12~<13 year P=0.444,17~<18 year P=0.264, 18~<19 year P=0.089);Urban female in addition to the group of 12, 13, 14 and 18 years old group(12~<13 year P=0.0.261,13~<14 year P=0.274, 14~<15 year P=0.437, 18~<19 year P=0.842), the others all ages women’s height was higher than the suburb(7~<8 year P<0.001, 8~<9 year P<0.01, 9~<10 year P<0.001, 10~<11 year P<0.05,11~<12 year P<0.001, 15~<16 year P<0.001, 16~<17 year P<0.001,17~<18 year P<0.01).3. All ages average height of primary and middle school students in Anhui province was higher than that of 2010 height level as well as the city boy, city girl, country boy, country girl average height level.4. The overall short stature morbidity rate was 3.16%, and short stature, a total of 380 patients, rate in boys and girls was 3.05% and3.28%,respectively. While the suburban was 3.75% and urban was 2.56%,the rate was significantly lower in urban area than that in rural area, there was no obvious difference between boys and girls.5. The highest detection rate was 3.66% among all age groups(17, 18 years old age group), minimum was 2.15%(11 years old age group). In male subjects,no matter in urban or in rural, the highest rate was 13-15 age group(junior middle school students); the lowest rate in urban was 16 to 18 age group(senior middle school students), the lowest rate in rural was 7-9age(primary school students). In female subjects, the detection rate of short stature in urban areas was mainly focus on primary school stage, the highest rate elementary school period, the highest detection rate emerged in7-9 age group, however, the highest rate in rural was detected in senior middle school students.Conclusions1. In the research of 7 to 18 years old in primary and middle school students in Anhui province, most male height was significantly higher than female, only 10 ~ < 11 year of exception. Urban height was much higher than that of the rural, urban male was much higher than that of rural male and urban female height was also much higher than that of rural female. All ages average height was higher than that of 2010 in Anhui province, but differences in age stages of growth.2. The survey of 12,009 primary and middle school students in Anhui province, the number of short stature detection was 380 and the detection rate was 3.16%, while male short stature detection rate was 3.05% and female was 3.28%, what’s more, the rural short stature detection rate was3.75% and urban was 2.56%. Short stature detection rate distribution characteristics as follows: Dongzhi was the highest while Suzhou was lowest. Rural above the city, no obvious difference was found between male and female, age from 13 to 18 primary and high age groups detection rate was higher than that of primary school.
