Objective: The study by investigating the height distribution and short stature detection rate of students aged 6 to 12 in 11 primary schools in Ninghe Tianjin in 2018,provided epidemiological data on the growth of children in the area and strengthens the understanding of the prevalence of short stature. At the same time,it analyzed the influencing factors related to short stature, and provided the basis for the prevention, control and in-depth study of short stature. Methods: Using a random cluster sampling method,a total of 6,827 students aged 6 to 12 years in 11 primary schools in Ninghe Tianjin were selected to accurately measure the height of all students from March 2018 to May 2018.We analyzed the height distribution characteristics and compared it with the height data of the nine provinces/cities in 2005,and analyzed the detection rate of short stature with reference to the height data of the nine provinces/city in 2005.At the same time,in order to study the related factors of short stature,a questionnaire survey was conducted for all students. The survey included general information, family status, birth status, exercise and sleep conditions.Results:1.The investigation of 6,827 primary students in Ninghe, showing the average height of boys aged 7 to 8 was higher than that of girls(7year P(27)0.05,8year P(27)0.05).There was no significant difference in the average height between boys and girls in 6 years old and 9-12 years old(6year P(29)0.05,9-12 year P(29)0.05).The average growth rate of boys was 5.4cm per year, while that of girls was 5.51 cm.2.The average height of boys and girls in Ninghe was increasing with age.The average height of boys and girls in all age groups from 6 to 12 years old was higher than that in the nine provinces/cities in 2005(P<0.05).The average height of boys were higher than that in the nine provinces/cities in 2005 by 3.3-6.1cm,while girls were 3.4-6.3 cm.3.We found 86 short stature students with a detection rate of 1.26% in 6,827 students.Rate in boys and girls was 1.29% and 1.22%.The highest detection rate of short stature in all age groups was 12 years old group. The highest detection rate among boys in all age groups was 12 years old group(2.03%),and girls was 11 years old group(2.04%).4.In the univariate analysis, gender, age, preterm, breastfeeding, parental education, and duration of sleep were not associated with short stature(P(29)0.05).Parent height, family economics, sleep time, exercise frequency, and exercise duration are the relevant factors affecting short stature(P<0.05).5.In multivariate analysis, after eliminating the interference of confounding factors, establish a regression equation. The numerical probability of short stature(28)-(0.104?father height(10)0.107?mother height(10)0.200?family economics(10)0.216? exercise frequency(10)0.137? exercise duration).Parental height, family economics, exercise frequency, and exercise duration were protective factors, which were inversely related to short stature.Among them, father height, mother height, and family economic status were significantly correlated with short stature(P(27)0.05).Conclusion:1.The average height of boys aged 7-8 was higher than that of girls, and the average height of boys and girls aged 6 and 9-12 was not significantly different. The average height of all age groups in 2018 was significantly higher than the data for the nine provinces/cities in 2005.2.The detection rate of short stature in Ninghe Tianjin was 1.26%.There was no significant difference in the detection rate of short stature in all age groups, and there was no significant difference between boys and girls.3.The relevant influencing factors affecting the detection rate of short stature were parent height, family economic, sleep time, exercise frequency, exercise duration,in which parent height and family economic situation were significantly related to short stature. We should pay more attention to students who have danger factors. We should educate parents and students about short stature and provide better social support.
