Objective:According to the thought of "different diseases with same treatment", this clinical observation, based on the summary of TCM masters’experience of treating eczema as well as my tutor’s, was associated with chronic eczema typical of blood-deficiency and wind-dryness syndrome by the treatment of an oral modified formula called Guiling decoction from a classical book Orthodox Manual of External Medicine written by ChenShigong in Ming dynasty, and to get comprehensive assessment of clinical efficacy including change of EASI and itching-degree scores together with safety. Methods:We recruited60eligible patients of chronic eczema, and divided them into two groups randomly with30members in each group. Members in the routine group were received by oral formula of modified Guiling decoction, and the control group by oral Epinastine Hydrochloride Tablets. Shehuang ointment was the common external medicine of the two groups. All subjects were required to review their cases in order to observe and record changes of related symptoms and signs including lesions area, erythema, papula, lichenification and itching-degree, etc. The course of treatment for each subject in this clinical trial was set as an internal of four weeks.Result:(1) After analysis of all of the clinical data, we got the result that the effective rates of the routine group and that of the control group were76.67%and56.67%respectively, and the total effective rate of the routine group was better than that of the control group(P<0.05).(2) Both scores of EASI and itching-degree of the two groups were decreased after treatment. The difference of the two groups in the decrease of EASI scores was of statistic significance(P<0.05), meaning treatment of the routine group has more remarkable effect than that of the control group in mending lesions. While decreasing of intching-degree scores was of no statistic sgnificance(P>0.05), showing comparative effect in remitting itching-degree.(3)No subject quitted due to adverse effects or other causes during his or her trial.Conclusion:(1) The effective rate of the group of modified-Guiling decoction was more remarkable with that of the control group in treating chronic eczema typical of blood-deficiency and wind-dryness syndrome.(2) The formula of the routine group was of effect with few adverse effects and potential of spreading in clinical treatment.(3) The treatment with oral modified-Guiling decoction to chronic eczema proves once again the TCM thought of "different diseases with same treatment", and is a reflection on the thought of "syndrome differentiation and treatment".
