“Scholars commented on politics” has been an important way for modern newspaper media to express patriotic demands,to participate in politics. It is obvious in Ta Kung Pao. The period of 1902 to 1912 is the initial period of Ta Kung Pao. In this period, in the influence of “Scholars commented on politics”, in addition to the support of church and concession, in the guide of unique press idea of Ying Lianzhi, Ta Kung Pao implemented the responsibility of the intellectuals, paid attention to political comments, gradually formed an “outspoken” style of commenting government.The “Scholars commented on politics” of Ta Kung Pao closely related to a decade of political process in the end of the Qing dynasty. Because of believing reformism, Ta Kung Paoactively involved in political improvement of the ten years of Qing dynasty and supervised the government. In the meantime, it advocated the constitutional politics. Facing the revolution, Ta Kung Pao insisted to rationally examine and reflect the disadvantages of revolution. On the matter of internal interest, it actively mobilized people to boycott of American goods on the force of public opinion, and motivated the patriotism and nationalism of the public to a large extent. Ta Kung Pao got involved in the politics, got a response from the government. In the process of commenting the politics, newspaperman got the deeper thought. It is more important that their contribution to promote the modern political democratization.The “Scholars commented on politics” of Ta KungPao reflects the political pursuit and value orientation of Ying Lianzhi and the colleagues in Ta Kung Pao. From the side view, it reflects the struggle and difficulties of intellectuals in transformation era. History as guide, namely the significance of Ta Kung Pao lies in this paper.
