Dagong Bao, from the year 1926 to 1945, was one of the most influential newspaper in that period, and Mr. Xianlin Ji once said that Dagong Bao was like an encyclopedia which covered the Chinese history of modernization. This paper takes the newspaper's comments for research object to analyze its political standpoint in competition between Guomin Dang and the Communist Party of China.Dagong Bao itself believed in liberalism and kept its characteristics at the beginning of its reopen.In the year 1928,Dagong Bao announced in its comment that it would support Guomin Administration to lead the Chinese construction, while keep the right to criticize the government if the authorities did not operate well. The reason which Dagong Bao made the inclination to Guomin Administration was the falling of the central government's authority to consolidate the whole country together from the end of Qing Dynasty. In order to end up the populace's distress imposed by conflicts or wars between warlords, Dagong Bao acclaimed the newly-established Nanjing regime and wished the latter can buildup its authority through reform on economics, politics, judicatory, diplomatism, military and social stability. Meanwhile, Nanjing regime had the advantage to strengthen the central government's authority by compare with other military factions.After September 18th Event, Dagong Bao shaped Jieshi Jiang as the political center and claimed the whole country, including the Chinese Communist Party, to assemble around the flag of Jiang's to resist the Japanese invasion. Considering Jiang as the political center contributed to gather the whole country's strength, materials and spirit, to fight against Japanese. Jiang had the power to be the political center in controlling army to obey to him, overcoming other military competitors in war, getting financial support from the wealthiest areas such as Shanghai and Zhejiang. In a word, Dagong Bao acclaimed Guomin Administration and Jieshi Jiang based on the China's history circumstances: authorities with authority helped to consolidate China and resist the Japanese invasion.
