While Reviewing the modern history of Chinese news, Ta-Kung-Pao was unquestionably the most successful paper if we take into account no other elements but just running a paper itself, especially when it won the medal from the Missouri News Institute (USA) in 1941, its influence was beyond China's boundaries, which is the only inter national honour awarded to China's newspapers by now.Just for this reason, people paid much more attention to Ta-Kung-Pao than to other papers. However, different people held different opinins to Ta-Kung-Pao, both good and bad, because of historic reasons, about the research of Ta-Kung-Pao, people have written many books or articles from different angles. After a tremendous analysis to their research, this essay finds that none of them has developed a study to Ta-Kung-Pao merely from the perspective of news or mass media. So I am still bold enough to choose Ta-Kung-Pao as the topic of my research in spite of the great amounts of research achievements to it.Based on the angle of mass media, this thesis tried to conduct a monographic study to Ta-Kung-Pao from the height of the whole developing history of news and in the background of world papers development. This essay gave a one-by-one analysis and discussion to Ta-Kung-Pao's running background, the runners' life experience, running ideation, organization management, talents training and business characteristic, and so on. And I found that under the charge of it's runners, such as Wu Dingchang, Hu Zhengzhi, Zhang Jiluan and their follower, Wang Yunsheng, Ta-Kung-Pao took lessons from the papers of that time, and learnt from the experiences of European and American papers, and they insisted on treating it as an independent economic entity, relying no political perties and social groups, abiding the laws of news mass & media and the staff's taking news mass & media as their career, all of which are typical characteristics of news porfessionalism. As a result, this essay concluded that Ta-Kung-Pao developed along the way of professionalism, which was also the main cause leading to its huge success, and from which we can still learn something useful to benefit today's news reform.
