A Study On The Irrational Expression Of Network Public Opinion In Media Times

The Irrational expression came along with network public opinion, which has become an explicit problem in ‘We Media’ era. During the mass media period, government and major media had played a leading role in Chinese structure of social opinion, while the voices of the public were weakened or simply drowned out. Fortunately, however, with the advances of media technology and the ubiquity of mobile Internet, represented by micro-blog and WeChat of we-media provides more convenient channel for public opinions. As a result, the Internet has officially become a distribution center of ideas and the main front of public opinion, which reflects rapidly changing public emotions and social mentality.A series of network events in recent years show that public opinions are diversified and paradoxical. Net citizens used to participate in network public opinion due to the concern of the state and the people, but now they tend to seek fun and kicks from the events and comments. These people are called ‘Online throngs’ or ‘Cyber bullies’, which has aroused both the academic and media industry.Under this background, the paper focuses on the irrational expression of network public opinions. First, the author defines some concepts about network public opinion combined with sociology and psychology theories, and then analyses the formation mechanism and characteristics of network public opinion in ‘We Media’ era. In the subject section, this paper focuses on analysis of the reasons and influence of the phenomenon with practical examples. Finally, suggestions of rational regression of network public opinions and the construction of network public opinion ecology are put forward.
