Salary management of teaching and administrative staff is one of the basicworks in university finance management. It is an important work that involves thevital interests of all teaching and administrative staff. It concerns the stability anddevelopment of the team of teaching and administrative staff in the university. With the rapid development of information technology and informatization inuniversities, various work have adopted corresponding information managementsystems, including students management system by the students’ affairs office, andteaching administration system by teaching affairs office. Without exception, salarymanagement system in universities have emerged in the early1990s and developedfrom uniprocessor version to C/S architecture and to B/S architecture. No matter fromthe technical or management perspective, a great improvement has been made. Later, salary management software has largely improved the work efficiency of salarymanagement in universities, reduced the management costs, and also elevated theability of salary management. At present, most universities are equipped with independent salary managementsystems; however, the situation of salary management is becoming more and morecomplex as the education industry is booming with growing enrollment scale fromseveral thousands to current tens of thousands, as well as the expanding teaching andadministrative staff. Therefore, the salary management system must be developed tobe more detailed and intensive. And the original management software is showingmore and more disadvantages.I have worked in the finance department of Xinjiang Normal University forseveral years and have gained deep understanding of salary management work. I thinkuniversity salary management needs a more flexible, intelligent and easy-to-usesoftware. In this condition, this paper proposes to improve the efficiency andcapability of salary management substantially by adopting information technology. This system is based on C/S mode. Object-oriented method is adopted to analyze and design. UML is used to realize modeling of the results after analysis and design.Object-oriented programming language C#is employed to develop the system.Microsoft SQL Server2008is used for setup of database. This research adopts waterfall software engineering process, including fivephases, i.e. demand analysis, concept design, detailed design, coding and testing. Thispaper firstly elaborates the background, status and significance of university salarymanagement system. Based on this in-depth investigation and conclusion, functiondemands of this system are analyzed and thus the system function structure model isestablished, including system configuration module, salary check module, individualpublic accumulation fund module, statistical statement module, and comprehensivesearch module. According to the results of demand analysis, design is carried out fromthe top to the bottom, namely, from the overall system structure, to detailed modulesand database table structure. Finally, some realized functions are demonstrated, suchas staff information maintenance, salary scheme setting, salary recording,end-of-month management, and so on.
