With the rapid development of China’s economic, the standards of people’sliving have improved, but the ecological environment have been seriouslydamaged, the problem of energy saving and emission reduction and protectingenvironment has become a common concern. The department of environmentalprotection gradually increase the intensity and construction of environmentalmonitoring. We have established environmental monitoring stations in most partsof China, most monitoring points are located in the areas of poor environment ina wider range. The traditional means of environmental monitoring are difficult tomeet the actual demand.In view of the above situations, this paper designs a remote environmentalmonitoring system based on GPRS wireless network, selects three environmentalparameters which are closely related to people’s life, temperature, humidity,carbon monoxide as monitoring objects. The system consists of a data acquisitionterminal and a monitoring center. In the design and research of the dataacquisition terminal, the system adopts the thought of modular design, which iscomposed of data acquisition module, micro controller module, GPRS wirelesscommunication module and power module, it improves the portability andstability of the system. Data acquisition terminal uses the MSP430F149microcontroller as control core to control sensors to acquire environmental information,and control GPRS module GTM900-C to connect to the network and transmitdata by communicating with it through serial port. In the design and research ofmonitoring center, the system uses C++language to design main program in thedevelopment environment of Visual C++6.0, realizing the operation ofcommunication and database by combining with Socket network programming technology and SQL Server2000database technology. The visual managementsoftware designed in the development platform can display monitoring data andinquire and delete historical data in real-time.The system proved to be stable and reliable by tested can meet the overalldesign specifications and requirements. The accuracy of the data is within therequest scope and the remote data is measured accurately. The system with goodscalability can meet different GPRS communication network form by onlyaltering the software but not changing the hardware. The research of this paperhas a certain meaning in development and application of remote environmentalinformation monitoring system and can be applied in the traffic, electric power,water conservancy and other fields.
