People pay more and more attention to their health in recent years. The rapid growing economy, the rising living standards, the promoting of new medical reform and the increasing trend of population aging are the main factors. In order to save time and money, more and more patients tend to have regular health check at home or offices, rather than in hospitals. How to provide a convenient and reliable service for patients thus becomes a primary task of medical electronic manufacturers nowadays. In this paper, we designed a chronic disease detection system, consisting of a smart mobile phone, a portable chronic disease detection terminal and a server. The terminal is combined by medical electronics and a wireless communication module, i.e., a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) terminal. So that the terminal can collect detection results and transmits them to a server in real time. The server stores these results and manages them in a unified form. This is convenient for doctors who did these works manually. And they can track and analyze detection results of patients now.The micro-controller of the terminal is STM32, which drivers a LCD, part S6D0128, and a GPRS module, part GU900Q. The software on the server listens on a TCP socket to receive detection results transmitted from the terminal. The backend of the software manages the information of doctors and patients in a unified form. For privacy concern, some information is encrypted using AES method. The mobile phone (running Android) is an information exchanging medium between patients and doctors/hospitals. The Android applications are programmed using MVC model. MVC is a programming model with many advantages, e.g. it is helpful to improve user interface. The apps communicate with the server via web service. In order to reducing communication traffic, the transmitted data are compressed, by LZW. This paper also elaborates the theoretical and practical significance of designing a chronic disease detection system. And in the last, we summarize the paper and state the achievement has been made, and the future work.
