Wireless Sensor Networks are spawned as Micro-Electro-Mechanism System (MEMS), System on Chip (SOC), wireless communication and low-Power embedded technology are in rapid development. It brings Information revolution with its low power consumption, low cost, distributed and self-organizing, and it has wide application prospects. Therefore, the study on design or optimization of more efficient network protocols for the Wireless Sensor Networks to extend the network life time and improve its performance (such as packet delivery rate of success, energy efficiency, etc.) is very necessary.Since the sensor nodes are power-constrained, energy efficient protocols need to be designed to prolong the lifetime of networks. Cluster-based routing protocols meet the requirements of data-based routing, especially for large scale sensor networks with better performance in scalability and energy efficiency than flat routing protocols, which makes them the major routing protocols for wireless sensor networks.LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) is one of the popular routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Network, cluster head selection algorithm and the inequality of node power consumption are unreasonable disadvantages so that an energy saving method LEACH-B is proposed based on LEACH. Firstly, all nodes are divided into five clusters, cluster nodes join cluster according to its position information. Secondly, in the first round, the nodes, which are closest to the geometric center of the cluster are selected to become the cluster head. Last but not least, the reward mechanism is combined with the LEACH algorithm. The paper found which has caused the entire network energy consumption smaller, improves the methods of cluster-head selection, simultaneously has given the algorithm’s mathematics inferential reasoning and matlab simulation experiment. The experimental results show that there are a good improvement to the improved clustering routing protocol in the node survival time. It effectively improve the balance of energy consumption of the network.
