Laser scanning galvanometer system, which can effectively promote the efficiency andquality of laser processing, is widely used in laser processing for its properties of highaccuracy and high-scanning speed. Aiming at the performance of IPG YLP-6000laser, laserscanning galvanometer system and the external optical path system were designed for beingavailable under the maximum output power in this paper. And the external optical pathsystem is comprised of two components, including the beam collimation and the beamshaping.After the experimental verification, the design defects of the current scanninggalvanometer were analyzed and the principals of design were also concluded in this paper.According to the requirement of the scanning galvanometer and the laser processingtechniques for the size of the incident light, both the reasonable size and the installation siteof the reflect mirrors were deduced based on the geometrical optics principle. Then the lensand the fixture were accurately assembled by the assembly equipment. Afterwards, thegeneral structure of the scanning galvanometer was designed by Solidworks software,including optimal design of the motor base structure, the water-cooling structure, theair-cooling system and the whole assemble framework. The safety and reliability of thescanning galvanometer system configuration were improved, and the overall configurationbecame more compact and reasonable.Through the experimental verification and the theoretical analysis, the problems of thecollimation and shaping system of the external optical path system were explained in thispaper. Based on overall consideration of the laser power, the beam quality and themechanism of laser damage, the design of the external optical path system was optimizedtotally, including the incident beam collimating, the laser beam shaping treatment andavoiding of the low-order ghost image in the external optical path system. The opticalsystem was optimized by using of the ZEMAX software, and the technical solution proposals for the current external optical path system were also advocated, and the scanninggalvanometer was available under the high laser power.
