With the rapid development of the scientific technology, especially the information technology and computer technology, the information revolution sucess brought by its development has achieved the integration of the traditional media and modern technology, forming one multiple and steric information communication network. Great abundant information penetrates all aspects of the people’s life by this powerful communication network. Living among here, the people produce, exchange and apply a mass of information at any time, and the principal source for these information is the mass media of communication. The college students as the research-based talents in China, on one hand, they need to apply the media literacy to shape their life view, world view and value view, on another hand, they need to apply the media literacy to expand their knowledge storage and deepen the academic research relying on the critic thought. Therefore, having the relative media concept, media ability, media mentality, media moral and media law, that not only decides the innovative consciousness and the scientific research ability of the college students, but also influence the talents cultivation level from the higher education school, so as to concern the establishment of the national innovative talent system.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction, for illustrating this topic research background, and putting forward the theoritical and practical meaning for this topic in the actual application. It explains the current situation and research method of the domestic and overseas research generally and points out the innovation for writing this paper. This part is the research premise for the whole essay.The second part and the third part is the concept definition and the theory basis of the collage students media literacy education and the explanation of the target and content for the college media literacy education. And this part is the theory premise of the whole paper.The fourth part is the practical significance of the college students media literacy education,media literacy educationis animportant content of ideological and political education in colleges, media literacy educationis is essential for college students to grow and succeed, media literacy educationis is an urgent need to deal with the current reality problem.The fifth part is the current situation investigation and analysis for the college student media literacy. It gives the credible conclusion by doing the questionnairs to the full-time undergraduate college students at school from three high education school and checking the data on basis of analysis. Hence, it discovers the college students media literacy current situation and the factors for influencing the college students media literacy and provides the realistic basis for fitting the college students media literacy education in the higher education school. The six part is the strategy thought for improving the college students media literacy education. That is the final aim for the research in this paper. On the basis of referring to the domestic and oversea advanced media literacy education research achievement and the sucessful experience, it raises the strategies to improve the college students media literacy in China from five aspects of the school, the media, the family and the college students; the seventh part is the conclusion and the prospect. It gives the suggestions and expectations for the future relative research by reviewing the research achievement in this paper and summarizing the disadvantage of this research.
