With the call for building knowledge-based society and advocate for universal reading,libraries play an important role in reading promotion and enhancing the quality ofuniversal reading. Library reading promotion includes the promotion of themselves andtheir reading services, and the promotion of reading resources and methods. In the processof promoting reading, libraries need to use a certain medium. With the development ofnetwork and information technology, various types of social media are booming, with itsrapid dissemination of information, and other advantages by timely interaction in variousfields of all ages and has been widely used. For library reading promotion, social Mediasare favorable medium. This research on library reading promotion based on social mediasbroadens the library reading promotion theoretical perspective, on the other hand it is ofpractical significance for promote the library reading promotion.Literature survey, online survey method, chart analysis, comparative analysis andinductive research methods are used in the research. Investigation are done of the resentsituation of library reading promotion using social Medias and the social media’s operatingmechanism and the user’s reading features. Based on the results, drawing on the socialmedia marketing strategies and methods, in accordance with the different types of libraries,different conditions and different types of social media, this paper discusses the socialmedias application in library reading promotion. And raise the platform design for thelibraries that have the ability to utilize social Medias.The survey results show that the library reading promotion on social media use stillstay at a preliminary stage, it can not take full advantage of the operating mechanism ofsocial media and the effects of the library reading to reach a desired result. In the socialmedia environment, the reading needs of users have tended to social reading. Whenreading with communication and interaction needs, ways and means of reading hasundergone great changes. Social media marketing can be generated for the library to readbecause of the operating mechanism is able to meet the user’s reading this feature,allowusers to participate in the library creation and dissemination of information content, andlibraries and other users to create and exchange and interaction.
