The stable, reliable and safe operation of the ATC (Air Traffic Control) radarequipment plays a vital role for the implementation of radar control. With the expandingarea for radar control, the requirement for the data of radar surveillance will be moreand more.In order to ensure a stable, reliable radar and also has a high-precisionsurveillance capabilities, in the research and development process of the ATC radar, it isan essential part of the radar debugging process. Because of the test environment,limited costs as well as the needs of modern flight support, it is not always possible touse real flight target in the debugging process. In that case, the radar target simulationtechnology has been frequently used in the real world.This technology developed aproduct named radar target simulator, which is widely used in various types of radardebugging. It provides a stable, reliable technical support for the R&D andmanufacturing of radar. DSP (digital signal processing) is the key core technology andproduct in the use of radar simulator, so it is important to master the workflow andfunction of DSP in radar target simulator in case to deeply understand the principle ofradar target simulator and its application.The focus of this thesis is to study a particular model of radar target simulator, anddetailed introduce a multi-target video echo signal simulator based on a DSP chip.Thisradar target simulator works with PC host computer and the DSP-based system torealize the simulation function.The operator set the radar parameters and targetinformation data in PC, with the serial port to transmit to the target simulation board,and then generate a corresponding multi-target real-time video signal of radar.In thiscase, DSP is the core of the whole system architecture and functions. This thesisintroduces the principle of this system, through the analyses of designed ideas and thesystem to elaborate the implementation of DSP in radar target simulator.
