In our national defense science and technology field, simulation technology has been used as a precursor technology in manufacture and experimentation. The scheme argumentation and performance evaluation of radar system are accomplished efficiently by simulation. Furthermore, the radar system designers can be free from hard manual programming and repeated work, it will shorten designing period and reduce development cost, and thus radar system can be optimum designed conveniently and efficiently. Some carrier-borne tracking radar system is established on the software platform of SIMULINK and the hardware platform of PC machine.The main work of this paper includes several sections followed here: Firstly, it introduces the modeling and simulation of radar, including the target and environment and signal processing. Secondly, on the basis of theory which is about with target's detection and tracking technology, it uses the method of tracking relate to target's distance, velocity and angle. Lastly, the system model of some carrier-borne radar on SIMULINK is present, and the operation principle is explained through some simulation result. Subsequently, the analysis of detecting performance is done. Be compared with theoretical result, the conclusion is that the system model is right.The work of the paper extended and perfected the software library of radar system, provided experience and convenience to further studies in the modeling and simulation of the radar system, and laid a solid foundation for the radar's further discussion and performance improvement.
