In recent years, with its high quality, high capacity, interactive, and strong carrying capacity of value-added service, digital TV spread rapidly. As a high spectrum efficiency of digital terrestrial television broadcasting network scheme, many countries and regions in the world has a construction and application of a single frequency network. With the promotion and development of terrestrial digital TV single frequency network technology, the problem how to plan a single-frequency network in a efficient waybecomes important. While, with the development of the geographic information system, using computer software for terrestrial digital single frequency network planning and design becomes an efficient and viable option. This paper presentsa terrestrial digital singlefrequency network planningsoftware system based on ArcGIS, it can preform related prediction and analysis on a single frequency network based on geographic information data and prediction models. The designers can plan a single frequency network properly according to the results of the analysis.Firstly, this paper introduced the current situation of single frequency network development, singlefrequency network field strength prediction of analytical methods and the technologies involved in this software system. Secondly, this paper carries on the requirement analysis of the terrestrial digital singlefrequency network planningsoftware system, and designs the overall architecture of the system, the directory structure of a project and the principle of storing the raster data files. According to the overall design, the paper designs and implements terrestrial digital single frequency network planning software which containsa variety of analysis functions. Besides, this paper alsogives the detail design of system management functions, the field strength prediction function, terrain analysis ructions and map control functions.Meanwhile, an efficient field strength prediction method based on Bresenham line algorithm is proposed.Finally, the paper describes the system unit testing, integration testing and system testing, and gives the main test cases for functional tests.The test results show that the system achieves the desired effect and meetsthe requirements.The terrestrial digital single frequency network planning software system proposed in this paper has great application requirements in a single frequency network planning and construction. Also, the system implemented in this paper has an important reference value and inspiration for the research of related study fields.
