In the planning of the wireless tactical network, the efficient use of the spectrum resources, the guarantee of the network reliability and the avoidance of possible interference are the problems that must be considered. In this paper, using the 3D electronic map based on geographic information, tactical communication network simulation is performed through adding radio equipment and microwave stations to the network. The field strength prediction, network topology construction and frequency assignment are accomplished via the simulated communication network and network planning results are displayed. Meanwhile, the algorithms used in network planning are simulated using simulation software, the validity of the algorithms are verified and some algorithms are improved.Firstly, prediction of the radio coverage of a certain area, namely the field strength prediction is realized using the ITU-RP.526 proposal and the prediction results are displayed on the electronic map. The attenuation prediction of the microwave transmission is realized by using ITU-RP.452 proposal, and the prediction results are reflected by the display of the attenuation value of some points on the link.Secondly, aiming at the drawback of genetic algorithm in solving frequency assignment problem, genetic and particle swarm algorithm based on the thought of particle swarm optimization is proposed and applied to frequency assignment. The results of frequency assignment using genetic algorithm and genetic and particle swarm algorithm are obtained by the simulation. The results show that the g enetic and particle swarm algorithm is more efficient in the last period. This algorithm is a good solution to the problem of frequency assignment.Thirdly, the frequency hopping communication system is studied and the constraint condition and cost function of frequency assignment are defined. The frequency assignment of the communication network composed of frequency hopping radio stations in two cases of synchronous networking and asynchronous networking is completed using simulated annealing algorithm and the corresponding frequency hopping patterns are generated. Finally, the construction of microwave communication network is completed. Microwave communication network topology is generated under the constraint of reliability. Alternative frequency without third-order intermodulation is generated using the genetic algorithm. The frequency assignment of the microwave communication network is completed according to the structure of the network topology and the alternative frequency without third-order intermodulation.
