This paper is a teaching design to probe into the computer network professional 《the computer network foundation》 of higher vocational colleges according to the author’s teaching practical need.The purpose of this paper is to improve experimental project, teaching methods of computer network foundation experiment classes, and adopt learning-based teaching and designing pattern to conduct teaching practice, write laboratory manual of computer network foundation that is suitable for higher vocational students’ characteristics, train the students’practical ability and exploring spirit, and complete training target that trains technology and application talents in the forefront of production in higher vocational education.The author adopts learning-base teaching design patterns and the related theory about teaching design is the theoretical support. Firstly, the specific points that should be taught in this course are determined through the literature analysis. Secondly, the experimental design adopts learning-based and task-driving teaching design patterns, and changes the old teaching design patterns of the students’mechanical and passive learning and the teacher is always teaching in the class ignoring whether the students can accept. It makes the students actively participate in the whole process of learning, discuss and communicate with their companions or classmates on the basis of the existing knowledge and experience,and construct their own understanding of knowledge in the process of communication and questioning. Thirdly, the author designs the experiment project of the actual operation according to the specific knowledge of computer network foundation course, the teaching goal of the course itself, the characteristics of higher vocational students and higher vocational education training target. According to the classification teaching thought,it is divided into four major modules and a comprehensive experiment, the relationship between modules is progressive, it is also progressive in modules, at the same time, it is also from easiness to difficulty, from simpleness to complexity. Students’learning process is also from imitating tasks to to rewriting the tasks then designing tasks by themselves in comprehensive experiment. Fourthly, network laboratory equipment resources and computer network experiment teaching situation of higher vocational colleges are fully considered in this experiment class design.The experiments in the experiment class do not only include Internet basic application but also experiment teaching having the aid of the simulator and virtual machine. It is convenient for teachers to show operations in class,and the students can do experiments in the limited time.After class,the students can also do exercise on their computers.Thus,they are not limited by the experiment equipments and environment.
