Dynamically reconfigurable technology based on FPGA can reconfigure internallogic resources of FPGA, which succeed in switching the logic function without stoppingthe device. So, it’s easy to modify or update functions of system by this technology,which improve the flexibility of the hardware system designed with FPGA. Besides,dynamically reconfigurable technology can increase resources utilization and lowerpower consumption by means of time division multiplexing. With great advantages insystem fault tolerance, aeronautics and astronautics, evolvable hardware, multi-functioninstrument and many other fields, this technology have wide application prospects in thefuture. In view of this, it has great value and practical significance to do research onFPGA dynamic reconfiguration technology and its application.With analyzing the FPGA dynamic reconfigure technology’s current developmentand application in the world, this paper has done much research on its principle andimplementation methods, and described their differences of realization method betweenmain FPGA manufactures. Then, based on above, putting forward a carrier board solutionwith dynamic reconfiguration capability, including global or partial reconfiguration in thelocal and remotely dynamic reconfiguration; designed local and remote reconfigurationcircuits with different configure method, like Platform Flash PROM, BPI Flash andSystem ACE CF on the platform of Virtex-5FPGA produced by Xilinx. Carrier boardcan be extended with different kinds of function board according to application needs,which will have dynamically reconfiguration ability. This promote the flexibility andgenerality of design. It can meet the general requirements of test application, such asdifferent types of missile and satellite or different stages of same type. Finally, doingexperiments with simulating payloads data sources, to verify the design’s reasonablenessand feasibility.The actual test results show that the Carrier board can achieve global dynamicallyreconfiguration under Platform Flash PROM, BPI Flash and System ACE CF mode, orlocal dynamically reconfiguration in the debugging JTAG mode. Besides, it can beconfigured by data file transmitted through Ethernet. It can be seen that the research andimplementation of dynamic reconfigure technology in this paper have importantreferential significance for its future engineer application.
