The study was to investigate the current status of the teaching of Peking Opera carried out in the junior middle schools in Shanghai, as well as the music teachers’ and students’ attitudes and suggestions towards it. The result should be referred to put forward the suggestions on the teaching of Peking Opera, looking forward to becoming the reference of carrying out the idea "Peking Opera entering class" in the whole nation.Based on the samples of the teachers and students in the public junior middle school in Shanghai, the study adopted the quantitative method and questionnaire survey, using stratified cluster sampling and convenience sampling to pick107teachers and491students in ten districts in Shanghai as the study samples. The researcher edited "the questionnaire of the current status of the class teaching in the junior middle school in Shanghai(for teacher and student) as the tool for the study, according to the result of the reference summary. After5experts are required to analyze the efficiency and reliability of the questionnaire by forecasting, the formal questionnaire was formed by correcting and rewriting it for many times. After finishing and collecting the questionnaire, the valid ones from the teachers are107with the85.6%valid rate while491from the students with the88.8%valid rate. The data got from the questionnaire is the descriptive statistics for analysis processing.The result of the survey showed as follows:1. Teaching Peking Opera in the junior middle schools in Shanghai is still in the beginning level. Most parts of teaching are conducted at music classes and there is no fixed period of lessons. Therefore, music teacher are the main source of teachers qualified to teach, with the trend for the target students that the older they are, the less students learn Peking Opera. In addition, the teaching materials are mainly from the music teaching materials Shanghai edition and the teachers’ self-chosen parts of Peking Opera. The teaching is mainly in the form of appreciating and imitating some parts of Peking Opera, so the common source of teaching is videos about Peking Opera. The lack of teachers majoring in Peking Opera and the music teachers’ professional knowledge about Peking Opera is the biggest factor that hinders the class teaching of Peking Opera.2. Although the students in the junior middle schools in Shanghai are quite familiar with Peking Opera, the main reason why they don’t accept Peking Opera is that they can’t understand it. Media and music lesson are the main ways to get informed of the related knowledge of Peking Opera. Students learn most of the knowledge of Peking Opera from the teaching content at music lessons and the teaching method students expect most is teachers’ performance by their own.3. Aiming to the fact that there is quite few training courses of the class teaching of Peking Opera for every level, teachers study the teaching of Peking Opera by self-learning. The training in some parts of the districts is mainly in the form of watching live performance of Peking Opera. Aiming to the fact that there is quite few training courses of the class teaching of Peking Opera, most teachers suggest that the training courses about Peking Opera and the class teaching of Peking Opera should be added to improve the level and ability of the class teaching of Peking Opera effectively.Suggestions will be put forward to the related leader, performers of Peking Opera and music teacher according to the conclusion of the study. |
