A reality show of Chinese outdoor sports is a type of entertainment springing up inChina in recent years. During the Beijing Olympic Games in2008, the “Go OlympicGames " launched by Hunan television channel is the pioneer, went after whom manyother TV stations imitated one after another.They launched characteristic outdoorsports reality show in season,among them,Zhi Yong Chong Guan of Hunan satelliteTV, I’m the best of Zhejiang satellite TV, Boys and girls go of Anhui satellite TVwere representative.Aimed of the whole people participate,the programme is based onlarge outdoor game props and combined with some other programme forms like talentshow and prize winning.They draw the audience’s attention and won their praise assoon as they broadcast. As a program type whose audience became leadingparticipator of program itself,it presents an important feature of moderncommunication--the audience is no longer an endpoint of communication,whichwas influenced by postmodernism and media consumerism.This paper first analyzes social background of the show, points out that under theinfluence of post-modernism and consumerism,the elite culture is gradually replacedby mass culture, and the participator of communication activities have graduallychanged from the communicator centered to audience centered.Then, the paper tries to analyze the reality show of Chinese outdoor sportsthrough several aspects like the content, audience and the innovation of theprogram.Firstly,the paper pointes out several principles in the design of outdoor sportsreality show,which include the progressive difficulty, familiar sense in strangesurrounding as well as some other key factors like water, slides, elasticity and soon.Secondly,through the concrete forms and data,the paper shows the roughly analysisof audience orientation and structure,and further investigation of such programscommunication feedback and market analysis, makes a comprehensive,three-dimensional, thorough analysis to program. And then,it combines theories such as Use and satisfaction, The popular Carnival,the traditional aesthetic notion, to showthe audience’s psychologies detailedly and embedded.The paper also pointed out theinnovation of outdoor sports reality show,including the positive and healthytheme,season broadcast form, the audience become program participants and othermajor features,which is different from the traditional program.After a series of analysis, the last part is thinking thoroughly about this newprogram type. Firstly,it pointes out the obvious defects of outdoor sports reality show--a simple form, easy to imitate;lack of creativity, cater to the audience vulgaraesthetic taste; making sophisticated not enough;the host team failed to form a brandand so on. After pointing out defect,suggestions aimed those flaws for improvementwere put forward, such as strengthen programs’ sustained innovation ability and soon.As a summary of this paper,expectations on reality show of Chinese outdoorsports were came up,pointing out that outdoor sports reality show is an unique typeof TV show in the domestic in which the folks can widely participate in and it willhave a good development prospect in the condition of some essential improvementand suitable soil.
