With the concept of open access had deeply rooted, Institutional Repository, one of the three brabches,have rapid development around the world.Because that the Institutional Repository abandoned the system of peer reviw in terms of quality audit,the contents that stored in IR can not be effectively protected.The value of IR was decided by the quality level of the contents that stored in institutional repositories, so it is the development assurance for IR to control the quality of IR. The IR will lose its survivability if there is no quality.Based on the analysis of the literature on institutional repository, this paper describes the definition of institutional repository, features, functions, and analyze the situation of institutional repository status quo, as well as quality control of Institutional Repository, introducing the main part of this article-how to control the quality of the institutional repository. Firstly, this paper gives a quality control standards of the objects of the academic institutional repositories, composed by three parts:the quality of content and format, the quality of academic quality and the quality of metadata. Secondly, according to the characteristics of academic institutional repository resource collection, the academic institutional repository can take the corresponding control from three stages:before submitting resources、while submitting resources and after the resources stored and opened. At the same time, this paper builds a decision tree model of academic institutional repositories quality control based on the decision tree theory. Finally, combined with the Title of Thesis knowledge base of Zhengzhou University and the quality control of academic institutions in the process, the author analyzes an illustrative example, and hope that can play a reference role in sustainable development of our academic IR.
