The report of the Seventeenth Party Congress proposed and emphasized theconception of cultural "soft power ". This “soft power” is an important part of a country’soverall national strength and international competitiveness, it is a vital source of nationalcohesion and creativity, and it is the basic premise of enriching people’s spiritual life. Inmany developed countries, the cultural industry has become a mainstay industry, which cangenerate considerable economic benefits. In the meanwhile, through the global output ofthe culture, a country can promote its international influence and national image. With thefierce competition of international cultural “soft power”, book publishing is playing anirreplaceable role as it is the pillar of the cultural industry. To continue producing moreexcellent cultural products, improve our country’s international communicating abilities,make the world hear more voices from China, understand China’s broad and profoundculture are important parts of the development and construction of the publishing industry.In this background, our government has paid great attention and has proposed thepublishing industry "going out" strategy. It has also taken a series of measures to supportand protect our publishing companies to go out of the country, therefore, in recent years,China’s book publishing industry “going out” has achieved significant results: the modesof “going out” have been continuous developed and expanded, and now we have like realbook trade, book copyright trade, international co-publishing and overseas investment andsome other “going out” modes.Based on the theories of communication, international trade, and publishing, throughthe methods of case study, data analysis and comparative study, and in the premise ofcollecting data, case and material, this article will analyze the modes of the Chinese bookpublishing “going out”, observe and find out the problems in their process of “going out”,and try to put forward some thoughts and suggestions. In this case, we hope to present theworld more books that contain many Chinese characteristics, and promote Chinese culture to go out.
