China Book International Copyright Trade Situation And Countermeasures

After the middle 20th century, with the development of the knowledge economy, book copyright comes into the international trade realm, and becomes an important worldwide form of international trade. Since 1992, when our country joined the Universal Copyright Convention and BO ER NI Convention, the trade of book copyright has been flourishing, and the total trade has multiplied. Chinese book copyright trade, as one of the stratagem of export, undergoes a historic change, from , passive to active. Moreover, the trade gained attention gradually. Currently, our country's publishers have already adapted international copyright trade rules, and the trade abilities have improved obviously. However, because we started the book copyright trade late and it is still not very mature, existing some problems, thus influences our country's book copyright trade's balanced and healthy development.This thesis is totally divided into three chapters. The foreword, elaborating the background and related concepts, explains the main problems and research methods, and discusses the meaning in brief. Chapter one looks back the history of the copyright trade and analyzes the present conditions. In the meanwhile, it compares the trade between China and America and wants to find the cause of the gap. In addition, it also analyzes two successful Chinese publishers in the field of export of book copyright. In chapter two, it analyzes the main problems when Chinese books enter the international markets. China cannot accommodate to the present international laws and systems related to the copyright trade and cannot define its predominant role in the market clearly. In addition, there are not enough translators and versatile gifted personnel. Chapter three is the vital aspect of the thesis. It mainly talks about how to deal with the problems and enlarge the export of the book copyright. The main countermeasures include the following contents. Firstly, adjust the Chinese book copyright trade to the international standards. Secondly, cultivate publishers' consciousness of their own status in the market of book copyright export. Thirdly, the government should provide more help. Fourthly, speed up the reform of cultural systems. Fifthly, cultivate related talents. In the meanwhile, According to the new situation of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and the related international and national concrete circumstances, the thesis researches the new forms and methods of Chinese book copyright export in the background of the Olympic Games, providing the bases of making measures.
