During the manufacturing process of automobile hub,the requirement of press-fitting isvery high. Precise servo press-fitting machine is widely used for its advantage of highprecision force and position control and process online quality management. But thedesigning process of servo press-fitting machine is rather cumbersome. For different types ofproducts, the structures and shapes are similar with so much repeat work, parametric design isan effective means of making design fast and efficiently.Parametric design is a tool thatthrough modifying the defined parameters, complete the changes of related graphics partsautomatically, realizing the graphics driver.Parametric design is helpful that it can speed upthe design progress, shorten the design cycle, save plenty of time and cost for enterprise andenhance the competitive ability of enterprise.Firstly, the paper introduces the concept of CAD, including the generating and the trenddevelopment of CAD.On that basis, the general method and the present researching situationis discussed emphatically. It also introduces relative content about CAD based on the methodof parametric design of knowledge based on engineering (KBE) and relationaldesign,including CCP Link、KWE Link、Instance Link、Constraints and View Link. Based onthe comparisons of two kinds of secondary development, finally the AUTOMATION ischosen for parametric design of servo press-fitting machine.In order to realize the parametric design, a deep research on the structure form and basicparameters for the servo press-fitting machine is developed. According to the functionalrequirement for the system, the system structure and the overall scheme for system design arepresented. The whole parametric design mainly contains of three aspects: the first one, theparametric design for body; in the second place, the parametric design for tooling plate; Thethird aspect, the parametric design for servo cylinder plate.Based on the above results for parametric design, the Visual Basic (VB) is chosen toproceed with the secondary development. An simplified human-computer interaction interfaceis developed, users need only input corresponding parameter value according to the hintedinformation. The system will generate components and parts automatically so as to realize the model target of servo press-fitting machine.Due to the determined role that the ball screw affects the accuracy of servo press-fittingmachine, the selection methods and general steps for the ball screw are summarized to guidethe actual use for enterprises.This paper develops an advanced design system.The actual operation effect is ratherwell.The system can realize the generation of servo press-fitting machine automatically andeffectively.
