The current economic climate forces businesses to collaborate more frequently and build efficient organizations and supply chains that reduce time-to-market and costs. Information technologies imply a strong modeling approach to support the complexities involved in the supply chain management process. Since supply chains are made up of nodes, which need to reach common agreements in order to fulfill their own requirements, the information technologies-based model is an adequate tool to support the modeling of the supply chain management process, mainly in a collaborative context. The thesis presents a mutil-agent based knowledge-oriented collaborative supply chain management architectural model. It supports coordination mechanisms and integration at the business and systems levels of the enterprise and the supply chain. In this architecture, the supply chain management system exists as a collection of economically motivated software agents of service-oriented cooperative distributed systems. It enables and supports common integration and economic services between market participants. The main contributions of this thesis are as follows:First, it presents a knowledge-oriented collaborative supply chain management architecture. In the most general cases, collaborative activities also imply a distributed decision making process which involves several supply chain nodes. Because collaboration in supply chains implies information exchanges among the nodes, the framework proposal is oriented to support supply chain management by considering the knowledge and information sharing process as one of the main aspects. Here we describe a business-centric knowledge-oriented architecture (BCKOA) for cooperative distributed systems, which is semantically rich and describes the organization and the interconnection among the software components, business services, and business ontologies of the supply chain management system. BCKOA specifications provide the abstraction to support the domain entities and applications independent of any specific technology.Second, the thesis proposes a mutil-agent technology based approach for supply chain collaboration. The supply chain network collaboration is a important problem to solve in the context of distributed and dynamic environment with multidisciplinary decisions. We present an agent-oriented dynamic trading mechanism for coping with coordination approaches based on market mechanisms of multi-issue negotiation. Here, we view "agent" as a metaphorical conceptualization tool at a high level of abstraction(knowledge level)that captures, supports, and implements features that are useful for distributed computation in open environments. The proposed model focuses on the interactions at local and global levels between agents in order to improve the overall supply chain business process collaborative Bahvaiuor.
