Now the developed countriesattach great importance to the construction of IR and vigorously support it, regarded it as animportant national service infrastructure. There are2262Institutional Repositories all over theworld up to2012.3.31, at the same time The Construction of the Institutional Repository hasattracted attention and concern in many domestic research institutions. The importantsignificance of IR in achieving information and knowledge sharing, promoting academicexchanges system revolution,promoting knowledge exchange and innovation, it has becomethe theory and practice of open access key fields.Now the Institutional Repository study has become the hot research topic in the keyresearch field of International book intelligence community. As an organized activities whichto meet users’ information needs and access to knowledge, Institutional Repository services inaccordance with the principle of openness and interoperability platform and after sorting,indexing, organization and management of a variety of digital academic resources, use avariety of advanced information technology tools and services ways to provide users of itsinformation products and services, it is one of the important means and ways of academicinformation exchange and the knowledge innovational for the countries all over the world.The article is based on summarizing the domestic and foreign Institutional Repositorytheory research and practice progress, to start from the institutional repository services inbasic theoretical research, describe the concept, content, service models and service way ofinstitutional repositories services and to discuss and analyze the factors that affect theinstitutional repository services.
