Recentl y, as a new computer application field, computer simulation and virtual reality technology is developing rapidly and used more and more in all walks of life, such as in marine applications. In order to protect the safety of the ship navigation, the IMO promulgated "the Manila Amendment of the STCW Convention" to strengthen the convention on skill training of crew. Researchers start to use virtual reality technology in engine room simulator to design multiple functions available, strong immersed feeling, low cost, easy maintenance and better interactive performance turbine virtual training system, which can achieve better training results. And also this technology has become a current hot spot in navigation. This paper takes the marine power station training system of Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariners Collage as simulated object, and discusses the method of the development of marine power plant training system using virtual reality technology. Firstly, the article analyzes the structural characteristics, operating principles and system parameters of the marine power station. Secondly, we achieve the simulation load of the marine power plant system, which using the inverter technology、the regenerative braking technology、the braking technology、the topology of energy feedback system and the dual PWM control technology. So, we can ensure the power station can conform to the demand of SOLAS.Thirdly, on the basis of accurate mathematical model, we use Visual C#.Net programming language develop power station to monitor analog system software. The monitoring software includes interactive interface and3D models. The interactive interface can be used to respond various operations of interface and display system real-time data, parameter changes and failure alarm. We established a three-dimensional model of the power station monitoring and simulation system by3ds Max, and gave system data and status real-time on man-machine interface. Finally, using3ds Max software to establish the three-dimensional model of the marine power station system and render optimized, and then importing the model into QUEST3D virtual reality3D engine to achieve the virtual roaming and operation of the power station to monitor analog system. Under.NET platform, combining the three-dimensional entities of the simulation software with virtual power station to monitor analog system to achieve interoperability maintain the status and parameters of the two corresponding objects synchronous through the sharing of the database. The research results show that the application of virtual reality technology in the marine power station system can provide more real and vivid tool for the crew training. And at the same time, it can provide more method to the research of virtual training system.
