Media literacy especially to teen has always been the hot research field directionboth at home and abroad. In foreign countries,Hong Kong and Taiwan, media literacy isnot limited to the scope of the academic community, it has become social problems thatall the members of the society and the organizations to face. In China, the media literacyis limited to the development of academic research, and most of them are the theoreticalintroduction. Detailed survey of the research is not so much, most of them are Ph.D.Thesises or master thesises. And now is the Information age, the development of newmedia put forward new development request to the youth media literacy. Junior highschool students are in the key period at the formation of the world outlook, the outlookon life,and the values, the thought idea, the behavior by the influence of the externalenvironment concept is very large, especially now of the media environmentinfluencing.In the rapid development of new media, media literacy surveys to them alsobecome an important component of the media literacy.Therefore, this paper selects the city of dandong of junior middle school students formedia literacy survey object, mainly by means of documentation, questionnaire, statisticsanalysis and individual interview method, and analysis the ability of their media literacyfrom media cognitive ability, ability to use media, media understanding ability as well asmedia criticism of the research on current situation. The influence of the traditionalmedia is still very important to them, especially in terms of media information reliabilityaspects; they have certain cognitive, but are still under media influence in behavior;existing cognitive level will enhance the selecting ability and critical ability of mediainformation for them; media toys characteristics are obvious for them, the media hasbecome life itself; for network media as a learning tool utilization rate is low; theirethical consciousness and network security are stronger, and so on. Use the sociallearning theory,constructivism theory and social psychology to concluding for furtheranalysis. In order to do specific quantitative reference for their media literacy especiallyfor new media literacy in domestic.
