Along with rapid development of science and technology, the mass media which is marked by the Internet is becoming closer and closer to people's daily life. Multifarious information from the mass media is exerting an imperceptible influence on people's thinking. However, minors are just on their way to be mature physically and mentally by learning from society. It's so perceptual for them to make distinction between the superior and the inferior,the true and the false, that they are easily effected by those unhealthy media informations.Therefore, cultivating the minor's ability to respond thoughtfully and capability to use of media resources actively for self-development has become a very urgent issue. Foreign media literacy education has been developing for several decades, comparatively the domestic research is still in its infancy.On the basis of clarifying the basic concept "media literacy", this paper combs the achievements in the relevant research briefly both at home and abroad. Then, in view of two weaknesses in both method and object in the current research, the media literacy status of middle school students in Lanzhou City is studied, by combining two methods of questionnaires and interviews. And based on the conclusions from analysis, this paper makes some suggestions for the implementation of local media literacy education.
