With the advancement of microelectronics technology, embedded technology and wirelesscommunication technology and so on, versatile, low-power and low-cost micro sensor becomesmore and more mature, that comtains information collection, data processing, wirelesscommunication and other function. Therefor, wireless sensor setworks, that have developed quickly,is one of the most promising technologies in the21st century. It will change the way of peopleinteracting with the physical world and make people have better perception of the physical world.Wireless sensor network routing protocol has an import impact on the performance of thenetwork. The features of the wireless sensor networks make routing protocol design more complex. On the basis of the structure, applications and characteristics, this paper introduces the classicwireless sensor network routing protocols and analysis the LEACH protocol, then put forward animproved protocol.LEACH, all known as Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy, is a classic wireless sensornetwork routing protocol and has been widely recognized. In this paper, an improved wirelesssensor network routing protocol, based on LEACH algorithm, uses the base station to make out thepath from cluster head to base station. In the stage of cluster choosed, it uses the distance of nodegiving its different cluster probability and the residual energy to adjust the threshold value forbalancing the energy comsuption of the nodes. And in the stage of clusters established, nodescalculates the weight about the distance between node and cluster and the distance between clusterand base station and choose the cluster that weight is smallest to balance the energy consumption ofclusters. The simulation results show that this algorithm can effectively reduce the energyconsumption and extend the life of wireless sensor network.
