Since2009, microblog has developed rapidly in China. Although the name is"micro-", its influence is for more than that. Microblog, a new kind of social mediawith limited140characters which is like a tiny atomic bomb, is spreading in the wayof nuclear fission among the public. Nowadays, many government institutions andofficials have their own microblog accounts. On one hand, with the development ofofficial microblog, the traditional way between the government and the public hasbeen transformed, and the public sphere would be built up. On the other hand, somegovernment and official microblogs sparked some negative public opinion, causing illeffect and loss.The essay is written in the following aspects. First of all, the author gives a briefintroduction of the microblog and official microblg with the definition, category,characteristics and the development in China. Secondly, two cases studies. The authoranalyzed two famous government and official microblogs in the aspects of typesetting,fans, time, content and the form. Thirdly, the author analyzed the positive effects ofthe government and official microblog in the vision of communication. Finally, somenegative effects have been discussed.
